Delta SkyMiles® Gold Business American Express Card Review
Constant juggling of credit card spending minimums and different rewards limitations can be discouraging. One easy solution for the business traveler is to use the Delta SkyMiles® Gold Business American Express Card from American Express, a Credit Cards House advertiser. With this card, it’s easy to rack up points and — maybe more importantly — easy to use these points to gain access to tons of other Delta Airlines bonuses and perks.

Delta SkyMiles® Gold Business American Express Card
With the Delta SkyMiles® Gold Business American Express Card, you’ll not only earn a hefty amount of SkyMiles, but you can maximize rewards spent on business travel. For a limited time, new cardholders can earn 75,000 bonus miles after spending $3,000 in the first three months of getting the card. The offer ends 3/29/23 (see offer terms). Members can also receive $100 off their next Delta flight after spending $10,000 in purchases on the card (see benefit terms). In addition, you’ll also earn a ton of bonuses and perks.
The Delta SkyMiles® Gold Business American Express Card boasts many features that are both very beneficial for frequent flyers and user-friendly. The best part is that you can try out the card for $0 annual fee for the first year, and after that it’s only $99 a year (see rates and fees). Some of the other awesome standout features include the following:
Discounts on In-Flight Purchases
When you use this card on purchases bought while cruising at 35,000 feet, you get a 20% discount back in form of statement credit. This means drinks, food or entertainment bought while on the plane nets you some pretty decent rewards.
First Checked Bag Is Free
Book a ticket with your Delta SkyMiles® Gold Business American Express Card and the first checked back is free, for you and up to eight other passengers. The savings are equal to up to $60 per flight if you fly solo, and even more if you reserve flights for people traveling with you. Within just two flights, you have already saved more cash than the annual fee cost, after the $0 introductory year.
With free Main Cabin 1 priority boarding, you can be one of the first to board, reducing the hassle and leaving you plenty of time to put your carry-on overhead and settle into your seat comfortably.
Gold Delta cardmembers can now save 15% on award travel. Cardmembers save at least 15% off the mileage portion of their award ticket booked through delta.com and the airline's Fly Delta app. It won't apply to Delta partner-operated flights or to any taxes and fees (see offer and benefit terms).
In addition to the above premium perks, you’ll get access to the basic features:
- $0 annual fee for the first year
- Earn 2 miles per $1 spent directly with Delta
- Earn 2 miles per $1 spent on U.S. select media advertising purchases
- Earn 2 miles per $1 spent on eligible U.S. shipping purchases (see offer and benefit terms)
- Earn 2 miles per $1 spent on eligible restaurant dining (see offer and benefit terms)
- Earn 1 mile on every other eligible dollar spent on purchases (see offer and benefit terms)
- No foreign transaction fees (see rates and fees)
- Cardmember-only travel benefits
- Expense management tools to help organize your business expenses
With the Delta SkyMiles® Gold Business American Express Card, you’ll have the chance to actually enjoy your flight without the stress of boarding in a hurry, or having to check your carry-on because there’s no more space.
As a Delta SkyMiles® Gold Business cardmember, not only will you be able to earn miles on purchases you make with your card, for things like gas, groceries, and restaurants, and even monthly purchases like your phone bill, but you’ll also have access to additional perks. These member benefits include:
- Baggage insurance plan
- Car rental loss and damage insurance
- Chip-enabled security
- Global assistance hotline
- Redeem miles toward Delta Award travel
Like many credit cards, the Delta SkyMiles® Gold Business American Express Card’s greatest strength is also its greatest weakness. The huge benefits and points you get toward Delta SkyMiles are amazing and can really add up, but therein also lies the problem. The points you earn with this card are only valid toward Delta travel rewards — there’s no redemption for any other airline.
If you are a frequent traveler of Delta, this card is perfect for you. But if you are only a moderate traveler and use multiple airlines throughout the year, there are more flexible travel credit cards that will benefit multiple airlines and travel-related purchases. A few other drawbacks include:
- No 0% introductory interest rate (see rates and fees)
- $99 annual fee after first year
- Redemption is for Delta Award travel only
With the limited time offer of 75,000 bonus miles as well as no annual fee for the first year, the Delta SkyMiles® Gold Business American Express Card offers cardholders great rewards on business travel. However, it is a bit outshined when it comes to other travel-rewards cards with less restrictive cashback rewards. Yet, with perks like priority boarding and free checked bags on any Delta Airlines flights, it offers a good amount of versatility for frequent Delta flyers.
