Chase Freedom Unlimited®

If you’re looking for a versatile credit card to use on everyday purchases, then the Chase Freedom Unlimited® Credit Card may be exactly what you need. This card offers the “freedom” to stop worrying about using a specific card for purchases in certain categories. You’ll earn cash back on everything you purchase, with no limits or caps.

Chase Freedom Unlimited® Card

With the Chase Freedom Unlimited® card, its rewards and reward redemption is unmatched, especially since it offers $0 annual fee. The card is offering a new introductory offer. With the card, you earn an additional 1.5% cash back on all purchases (on up to $20,000 spend in the first year). This is worth up to $300 cash back. In the first year, you can earn 6.5% cash back on travel purchases through Chase Ultimate Rewards®. You also earn 4.5% cash back on purchases at drugstores, dining, takeout and eligible delivery services, and 3% on all other purchases.

After your first year with the card (or $20,000 spent), you earn 5% on travel purchases through Chase, 3% on dining and drugstore purchases, and 1.5% on all other purchases.

The cash back redemption options are pretty extensive too, as they go beyond the traditional statement credit. Instead, you can redeem your rewards for travel-related purchases, get cash directly deposited into any Chase bank account or transfer your rewards to another Chase credit card for even more options. The Chase Freedom Unlimited® card offers a straightforward approach to earning cash back rewards, with no limitations or spending caps.

The Chase Freedom Unlimited® Card is perfect for someone who doesn’t spend a lot in one area but instead buys a bit of everything throughout the year. This card has a special appeal to people who are trying to build their credit or who want to streamline the number of credit cards they use. Some of the best features include:

  • $0 annual fee

  • Earn an additional 1.5% on all purchases your first year (on up to $20,000 spent)

  • 0% APR on purchases and balance transfers for the first 15 months, then a variable APR of 19.24 - 27.99% applies

  • Multiple reward redemption options and no minimums

  • Ultimate Rewards points can be transferred to other Chase cards

  • Free credit score through Chase Credit Journey

Member Benefits

As a Chase Freedom Unlimited® cardmember, not only will you earn an additional 1.5% cash back your first year of opening the account, but you’ll also have access to additional perks. These member benefits include built-in card protection, such as:

  • Low interest rates
  • Zero liability protection
  • Purchase protection
  • Chip-enabled security
  • Auto rental collision damage waiver

While the additional 1.5% the first year and then getting 5% on travel through Chase, 3% on dining and drugstores, and the hassle free 1.5% cash back is great — but with other cards out there, you could receive up to 5% back in specific categories that rotate throughout the year. Some other drawbacks to this card:

  • 3% foreign transaction fee
  • No quarterly bonuses or rotating categories

Bottom Line

With the additional 1.5% cash back the first year and the continuing unlimited 5% on travel through Chase, 3% on dining and drugstores, flat 1.5% cash back on everything else and $0 annual fee, the Chase Freedom Unlimited® credit card offers cardholders great rewards earnings for a very low cost.

Yet, with no minimum on when you can redeem your points and lots of ways to cash in your rewards, the card offers more versatility than most other no annual fee credit cards. Its additional 1.5% cash back offer and 15 month 0% APR on all purchases makes this card a strong contender.
