Credit Cards Offering VIP Access
Most people use reward credit cards because they want to earn free travel or cash back. This is how they find value in the rewards they’ve earned. However, other people find value a completely different way. They want the chance to share once-in-a-lifetime experiences with their friends and family.
Certain credit cards will actually allow you to redeem your points for things that might otherwise cost hundreds if not thousands of dollars to attend. Things like the Super Bowl, or VIP access to see one of your favorite bands in concert. It’s events like these that some people might never be able to attend if it weren’t for their credit card rewards.
Let’s look at how three different credit cards can provide unforgettable experiences for their cardholders.
NFL Extra Points Credit Card
Being able to go to the Super Bowl is every football fan's dream. Unfortunately, actually making it there can be a little bit of a struggle. The average ticket price for the 2017 Super Bowl was nearly $4,900. Instead of dishing out this kind of money each year for tickets, some people rely on the NFL Extra Points credit card to get them to the game.
With the NFL Extra Points credit card, you are given the chance to redeem your points for one of three different Super Bowl packages:
- Two upper-level tickets for 175,000 points
- Two mid-level tickets for 225,000 points
- Two premium-level tickets for 275,000 points
If you are looking to enhance your Super Bowl experience, you can get an on-field experience before or after the game for just 25,000 points. This would be a great chance to get up close and personal with your favorite players.
If you would prefer to redeem your points to see your favorite team during the regular season you can do that as well. Tickets for these games start at a doable 25,000 points.
Earning points with the NFL Extra Points card is simple. You will receive 10,000 points when you sign up and spend $500 within the first 90 days. You will then receive 2x points when you purchase NFL tickets, in-stadium goods, and when you use the card on NFLShop.com. For all other purchases, you will earn 1x points.
In addition to these helpful benefits, cardholders will also be able to receive 20% off any purchases of $100 or more from the NFLShop.com. You will get all of this with no annual fee.

The Starwood Preferred Guest® credit card from American Express, a Credit Cards House advertiser, is a favorite card for many travelers. Not only can you redeem your rewards for some of the nicest hotels in the world, but it also gives cardholders the opportunity to use the rewards they’ve earned on exclusive events. SPG Moments either give you the ability to bid on different experiences or purchase them outright with a set amount of points.
Each year they have different packages available for the US Open tennis tournament. You can receive courtside seats at Arthur Ashe Stadium, or you can choose to sit in one of the SPG luxury boxes. You could even receive a tennis lesson from a tennis great like Chris Evert.
SPG Moments also has a partnership with Madison Square Garden and Staples Center, where you can redeem points for luxury suites at New York Knicks or Los Angeles Lakers games. If you’re not a basketball fan, then you can elect to sit in style for one of many major concerts throughout the year.
With SPG Moments you will also be able to bid on different auctions for a chance to win once-in-a-lifetime events. Recently they auctioned off a package that included a pair of tickets to the NBA All-Star celebrity game, tickets to the NBA All-Star game, a four-night stay at a Starwood property, and round-trip airfare to New Orleans. You could even bid for your chance to have VIP access to Carnival 2017 in Rio De Janeiro and walk in the parade.
Earning Points with the Starwood Preferred Guest credit card is simple. When you sign up, you will receive 25,000 Starpoints® after spending $3,000 in the first three months. You will then earn 2x Starpoints for all purchases at Starwood or Marriott properties. If you have Starwood elite status, you can earn up to 5x points. All other purchases made with the card will earn 1x points.
In addition to redeeming your Starpoints for VIP events, you can also use them at over 1,300 hotels and resorts. Plus, your points can be transferred to many different airlines. Each 20,000 points transferred will receive a 5,000-point bonus. The card comes with a $95 annual fee, but it’s waived the first year.
Chase Sapphire Preferred®
Earning Chase Ultimate Reward points is a favorite for many travelers. These points offer a lot of versatility due to the amazing transfer partners they have. You can choose from airlines like Southwest Airlines or United Airlines, plus there are hotels like Hyatt, Marriott, and more. But your redemption possibilities also extend to experiences.
While booking a business class seat around the world might excite some people, having the chance to stand on the red carpet at the Emmy’s might be much more appealing to others. With the Chase Sapphire Preferred® card, that is exactly what some have had the chance to do. With the Ultimate Rewards you earn from the card, cardholders have been able to select one of many different packages for the Emmy’s including:
- Mezzanine seating at the Emmy’s for 45,000 Ultimate Reward points or $450
- Orchestra seating, the red carpet experience, and the Governors Ball for 200,000 Ultimate Reward points or $2,000
- The Ultimate Weekend Experience including the Emmy’s rehearsal, performers nominee reception and dinner, Welcome Walk pre-reception, orchestra seats at the Emmy’s, and the Governors Ball for 300,000 points or $3,000
If the Emmy’s isn’t your thing, then there are other great experiences you can choose from. You could attend the Sundance Film Festival, or a Private Dinner Series where you will attend a reception with hors d’oeuvres and then receive a multi-course meal from a James Beard award winning chef. After the meal, the chef will make an appearance to talk about the menu he put together.
Another opportunity to use your Ultimate Reward points would be to experience the Artists Den. These are secret concerts from some of the biggest names in music. The experience would include VIP tickets, which includes access to the after-party, access to the VIP viewing area, and more.
When you sign up for the Chase Sapphire Preferred® card you will receive 50,000 points after spending $4,000 in the first three months. You will also receive 2x points on travel and dining, and 1x points on all other purchases. The card comes with no foreign transaction fees and a $95 annual fee, which is waived the first year.
Redeeming points for a spot at the front of the plane or for a hotel suite can be truly amazing, but for some there is no comparison to a once-in-a-lifetime experience. These three cards can help create those moments that you will talk about forever.
